The MLBB Advanced Server is Mobile Legends' public test server, where new heroes, balance changes and features appear before they reach everyone else. It is free, but places are limited and it is only reliably playable from Southeast Asia. Here is what it is, who can join and how.
What is the MLBB Advanced Server?
The Advanced Server is a separate copy of the game that Moonton uses to test updates. When you read about a hero or a nerf "on the Advanced Server", this is where it was seen.
It is distinct from the normal game, known as the Official Server (or "Original Server" among players):
| Official Server | Advanced Server | |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | The live game | Testing upcoming content |
| Your heroes, skins and rank | Your real account | Separate; nothing is shared |
| New heroes and changes | Arrive after testing | Arrive first, and may change or be cancelled |
| Recharging diamonds | Yes | No |
| Stability | Stable | Bugs are expected |
Progress on one server does not carry over to the other. Skins or heroes you unlock while testing stay on the test server.
Requirements to join
According to the Mobile Legends Wiki and current guides, you need:
- Account level 15 or higher on the Official Server.
- A stable connection, with latency under roughly 120 ms.
- A Southeast Asian connection. The server is intended for players in Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and nearby countries. Players elsewhere may be able to log in but struggle to find stable matches.
- An open slot. Access is limited by quota. When the quota is full you cannot enter until it reopens.
How to join the Advanced Server
There are two routes. Which one works for you depends on your device and region.
In the game
- Link your account first. Go to your profile and bind your account to a Moonton account, Google, Facebook or TikTok. Switching servers on an unlinked guest account risks losing access to it.
- Open your profile, then Account Settings.
- Look for the option to switch to the Advanced Server (some versions label it as a test server).
- Confirm. The game restarts and downloads the Advanced Server files.
If you don't see the option, your account does not currently qualify or the quota is full.
Through TapTap
Moonton also distributes an Advanced Server build through the TapTap app store. The download is only available while the quota is open, so the button may not always be active. After installing, you still need to meet the requirements above and wait for a slot.
How to switch back
Go to the same Account Settings screen and choose the Official Server. The game restarts again. Your main account is untouched by anything you did on the test server.
Things to know before you join
- Use it or lose it. The wiki notes that if you stay inactive on the Advanced Server for a long time, your access is treated as given up and passed to another player.
- You can't spend money there. Recharging is disabled.
- Expect bugs and resets. It is a test environment, and matches can be unstable.
- Nothing is final. Heroes and balance changes are regularly altered, delayed or dropped before release.
The Advanced Server is a preview, not a promise. Half the fun is seeing what changes before launch.
Is it worth it?
It suits you if you want to try new heroes early or follow the meta before it shifts. It is not a shortcut for your main account, because nothing transfers.
If you only want to know what is coming, you don't need access. Our patch notes coverage summarises changes once they are confirmed, the latest being the patch 2.2.16 breakdown, and the tier list shows how the live meta responds.
